The Phantom 4 Advanced from DJI boasts a 3-axis-stabilized gimbal camera with a 20MP, 1" CMOS sensor capable of shooting up to 4K/60fps video as well as photo bursts at up to 14 fps. Distinct from its sibling, the Phantom 4 Pro, this Phantom benefits from a total of five vision sensors, which enable precise navigation where GPS is unavailable and provide two directions of obstacle detection. Additionally, it adopts a titanium and magnesium body for increased rigidity and reduced weight. Like the Pro, the Advanced can attain a top speed of 45 mph in Sport Mode and can fly for up to 30 minutes.
This variant features an integrated Android device with 5.5" 1080p display for live view and operating app-based functions.
An uprated camera is equipped with a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor capable of shooting 4K/60fps video and Burst Mode stills at 14 fps. The FlightAutonomy system includes 5 vision sensors for 2-directions of obstacle sensing and forward-vision obstacle avoidance. The adoption of titanium alloy and magnesium alloy construction increases the rigidity of the airframe and reduces weight, making the Phantom 4 Advanced even lighter than the Phantom 4.
CAMERA WITH 1-INCH 20MP SENSOR
The onboard camera is equipped with a 1-inch 20-megapixel CMOS sensor. A custom engineered lens made up of eight elements is arranged in seven groups. A mechanical shutter is used to eliminate rolling shutter distortion which can occur when taking images of fast moving subjects or when flying at high speed. In effect, it is as powerful as many traditional ground cameras. More powerful video processing supports H.264 4K videos at 60fps or H.265 4K at 30fps, both with a 100Mbps bitrate. Excellent optical performance, sensors and processors ensure everything is captured with high dynamic range and more image detail needed for advanced post-production.
5 VISION SENSORS
Equipped with the FlightAutonomy system made up of 5 vision sensors, dual-band satellite positioning (GPS and GLONASS), ultrasonic rangefinders and redundant sensors, Phantom 4 Advanced is able to hover precisely in places without GPS and fly in complex environments. The dual forward vision sensors can see as far as 30m out in front, and enable auto brake, hover or detour in front of obstacles within 15-meter range.
REMOTE CONTROLLER WITH BUILT-IN SCREEN
Phantom 4 Advanced+ is equipped with the integrated upgraded Lightbridge HD video transmission system with a maximum video transmission range of 4.3mi (7km).* A 5.5-inch 1080p screen integrated with the Phantom 4 Advanced+ offers 1000 cd/m2 of brightness, more than twice as bright as conventional smart devices, which means a visibility even in bright direct sunlight. A five-hour battery life makes the Phantom 4 Advanced+ a complete aerial imaging solution. The built-in DJI GO 4 app can allow you to live stream, edit and share your aerial videos and photos instantly.
What are the main differences between the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Advanced?
The Phantom 4 Advanced's uprated camera shoots 4K/60 fps video at a bitrate of 100 Mbps and stills at up to 20 megapixels. It can be used with an optional integrated monitor for even more reliable transmission. Operators are empowered with a new suite of Intelligent Flight Modes. The maximum flight speed of the Phantom 4 Advanced is slightly higher than the Phantom 4 when flying in P-mode. The maximum flight time is extended to 30 minutes, the transmission range is extended to 7 km, and the obstacle sensing range is increased from 15 m to 30 m.
What are the main differences between the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Advanced?
The Phantom 4 Advanced inherits most of the functions of the Phantom 4 Pro. However, in order to increase affordability, unlike the Phantom 4 Pro the Phantom 4 Advanced does not have rear vision sensors and two infrared sensors in its FlightAutonomy system. Also, its remote controller does not support the 5.8 GHz frequency band and Tapfly Backward has been removed.
What accessories can be used with both the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Advanced?
Propellers, Intelligent Flight Batteries, chargers, power cables and micro USB cables can be used with both the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Advanced.
Compared to the Phantom 4 camera, what advantages does the Phantom 4 Advanced camera have?
The Phantom 4 Advanced camera is able to record UHD 4K (4096X2160) at 60 fps, at a maximum bitrate of 100 Mbps using the H.265 codec. It also allows you to capture still images while filming. The Phantom 4 Advanced camera sensor is also larger than the Phantom 4 camera sensor, ensuring clearer images.
What are the benefits of the Phantom 4 Advanced's mechanical shutter?
The mechanical shutter eliminates rolling shutter distortion, which can occur when capturing images of fast moving subjects with an electric shutter.
Does the Phantom 4 Advanced's camera support focus adjustment?
Yes. Tap a point on the display to focus at that point after switching from metering to focus mode. Auto focus can also be triggered by half-pressing the shutter button, before fully pressing the shutter to capture an image. Focus can be set between 1 m and infinity.
What makes the Phantom 4 Advanced's camera lens special?
The Phantom 4 Advanced's camera has a wide-angle lens specially designed for aerial photography, with an aperture range of F2.8 to F11 and a 24 mm equivalent focal length. It’s also equipped with a mechanical shutter and auto focus support.
